1. Vinegar cleaning

This method applies to faucets that do not have a strainer, and faucets that carry a strainer have to be cleaned in other ways.

The first trick to clean a clogged faucet is the proper use of vinegar. Water for the faucet comes from the tap. The downside of tap water is that over time it can form a sediment that can clog faucets and cause disruptions in your home. Vinegar can solve such a problem without spending too much money to replace the faucet.

(1) Pour the vinegar into a prepared cup. Don’t use too much, then place the cotton ball in the cup and soak it all for 5 minutes.

(2)Remove the cotton balls from the cup and insert them into the spout of the faucet to be cleaned, remembering to reserve a little cotton or they won’t be easy to remove, and you can remove them in about fifteen minutes.

(3) Remove the cotton ball, you can clearly see the dirt on the cotton ball, soak a clean rag in vinegar for two to three minutes and then wipe the edges of the faucet with the rag, you can remove the dirt from the edges of the faucet well.

(4) Turn on the faucet. At this point, you can see if the faucet is working properly. If not, use the above method to clean it again.

2. Filter cleaning

Usually, newly installed faucets have a layer of strainer. The filter is used to prevent splashing while using the faucet, but the filter not only prevents splashing, it also absorbs a lot of dirt. A clogged faucet requires the filter to be cleaned.

(1) Tool preparation, cleaning the filter requires the preparation of some sewing needles or paper clips. If you do not have such a thing, you can use a toothpick instead. Of course, a knife and air blow should also be prepared.

(2) To test, gently remove the filter head from the faucet, turn the faucet on and see if the water flow is still low. If it’s not the filter, if the water flow is still small after removing the filter, then it’s not the filter’s problem. The problem is that you need to check it again at this point.

(3) Use your fingertips to remove the filter from the filter head. Note that the fingertips should not be too strong during the collection process, so as not to damage the filter.

(4) The strainer usually has two layers. Use the prepared sewing needle and knife to take the white filter along the edge of the strainer. Do not apply too much force when taking it. Do not make the white metal ring uneven or deformed. Use a paper clip or toothpick to remove the inner parts of the screen one by one. Be careful not to damage the internal parts.

(5) Blow the strainer with air and use a toothpick to clean the dirt inside the strainer one by one. Rinse with clean water after completion.

(6) Put the strainer back together in the same order as the previous disassembly.

Among the tricks for cleaning a clogged faucet, the cleaning of the filter is very simple, but you must be extra careful, because the slightest carelessness can damage the filter.

3. Use of detergent

The last resort is to use a cleaner to clean it. Normally, the faucets in your home should be cleaned every three months. When cleaning faucet stains, you need to use a neutral cleaner on its surface and then use a clean soft cloth. Wipe it clean and use a toothbrush or small brush to deep clean the faucet. Remember to only use a neutral detergent, otherwise the shine of the faucet’s surface will be ruined.
