What Is a Touchless Faucet?
A touchless faucet turns water on and off automatically using a motion sensor. You do not need to touch the handle, which makes it more hygienic and convenient in kitchens and bathrooms.
How Does It Work?
An infrared sensor near the spout detects motion. When you place your hand under the faucet, the sensor sends a signal to a solenoid valve, which opens the water flow. When you move your hand away, the valve closes.
Power Options
- Battery-powered
- Plug-in AC adapter
- Hardwired
- Water-powered or hybrid models
Pros and Cons
Touchless faucets are more hygienic and can reduce water waste. The main downsides are higher cost, the need for power, and more electronic parts that can eventually need service.
