A faucet diverter is a valve that changes the direction of water flow. In a kitchen faucet, it sends water to the side sprayer. In a bathtub faucet, it sends water up to the showerhead instead of out of the tub spout.
Types of Diverters
- Tub spout diverter: A pull-up knob or lever on the tub spout.
- Shower valve diverter: A separate handle or knob that switches between tub and shower.
- Kitchen faucet diverter: Sends water to a side sprayer when the trigger is pressed.
Signs of a Bad Diverter
- Water comes out of both the tub spout and showerhead
- The diverter is stuck or hard to move
- The side sprayer has weak flow
