Japan JISA5207 “Sanitary Ware – Toilet And Basin” Standard Has New Changes
Japan Toilet Industry Association released the latest version of the slightly JISA5207 “Sanitary Ware – Toilets and Basins” standard on August 23. The standard adds a new urinal flush water classification and test method.
The standard says the international standard ISO31600 (Water Efficiency Labeling Scheme) comes into effect in June 2022. It specifies water-saving efficiency requirements and implementation guidance for water-using equipment (applicable to eight types of water-using products, including toilets and urinals). The JIS revisions will be consistent with international standards and reflect product specifications of recent years. Since Japanese toilets are already in line with international standards, this revision only involves urinals. In addition, in addition to being in line with international standards, a wall-mounted special flush valve toilet type II JIS symbol has been added for toilets.
- New toilet flushing water partition
The new urinal flushing water volume is divided into “Type I (less than 4 L) and Type II (less than 2 L)”. The classification of Type I is due to the “Law on Procurement of Environmentally Friendly Goods by the Government and Others” (Green Procurement Law), which stipulates that urinals with a flushing volume of 4 L or less are “specific procurement items” as a “judgment criterion. “The classification of Type II is due to the fact that the manufacturer of the urinal is a manufacturer. The classification of Type II is due to the fact that manufacturers have already introduced urinals of 2 L or less to the market.
For toilets, the water-saving form is 6.5 L or less of flushing water. This is a “judgment criterion” for “specific procurement items” under the Green Procurement Act.
- Flushing water test method for newly constructed special flush valve type toilets
With the increase of urinal water partition, a new flushing water test method has been added. For flush valve urinals, there was no flush water test method because the flush valve was used to adjust the water volume as the flush water volume of the urinal.
- Urinal flushing performance test conditions updated
With the increase of urinal water partition, the cleaning performance test conditions were updated. If the flush valve type urinal, “the test water volume should be confirmed Ⅰ-shaped less than or equal to 4.0 L, Ⅱ-shaped less than or equal to 2.0 L, and record the test water volume. If the manufacturer’s nominal water volume has a range, the test water volume should be less than or equal to the minimum value of the nominal water volume.” In the case of special flush valve urinals, “If the manufacturer’s nominal water range, the test water volume should be less than or equal to the minimum nominal water volume.”
- Adding the JIS symbol for toilets
With the increase in demand, a number of manufacturers produced “special flush valve type wall drain type II toilet” was added to the JIS symbol.
